Obama hits back with dig at rival’s claims

FINANCIAL TIMES:    “When I got on stage, I met this very spirited fellow who claimed to be Mitt Romney,” Mr Obama said at the rally, going on to contrast the Republican presidential candidate on the stage with the one on the campaign trail.

“But it couldn’t have been Mitt Romney because the real Mitt Romney has been running around the country for the last year promising $5tn in tax cuts that favour the wealthy. The fellow onstage last night said he didn’t know anything about that,” he said to cheers from his supporters…

The president also sought to highlight disparities in Mr Romney’s statements on education, outsourcing jobs and tax breaks for companies, playing into perceptions that his rival is a flip-flopper who changes positions for political expediency…  (more)
