NJ Gov. Christie to Go to Iowa, but Says He’s Still Not Running

… Christie will speak at an education-related event in July at the request of Republican Gov. Terry Branstad. Christie met with GOP donors who had trekked from Iowa to New Jersey and gave them a disappointing message.

“What we heard from him very clearly was the same response he has given publicly: that he made a commitment to New Jersey and continuing to work to solve their problems,” said Iowa businessman Bruce Rastetter. “He understands the country’s problems, but feels very strongly that he has that commitment to New Jersey to continue to serve,” Politico reported…

EDITOR: We still think Gov. Christie is preparing to run in 2012 when he is better established, would not be breaking a pledge, and will not be facing Barack Obama.  By visiting Iowa, he is making valuable contacts for the future.
