We congratulate President Barack Obama and his administration on successfully negotiating the nuclear armament arrangement with Iran. Iran is nothing like North Korea. It is a capitalistic, westernized nation, sharing our Judeo, Christian, Muslim traditions and values. Yes, it is currently heavily influenced by a theocracy, but there are strong signs of a growing democracy and, except from some saber rattling by the superannuated religious leader, its government by and large represents its people. An they vote and lean towards democracy.
North Korea has a totally rogue regime, a three generation dictatorship totally under the control by a dangerous young leader who threatens war and who doesn’t care one jot about the general well being of his people. He has rudimentary nuclear weapons and is working feverishly to improve the potency, increase the number, and come up with missiles that could even reach the mainland of the United States.
It may well be time for us to tell the Chinese that we recognize North Korea is in their zone of influence, and give them one year to remove and gain control over the successor North Korean government. If they want (which we doubt), they should be allowed annex North Korea if they so choose.
We should make clear that after a year we would feel ourselves at liberty to defend ourselves against the current dictator and our allies by adequate means of our choosing.
Without spelling out what we would do, after the deadline we should seriously consider using tactical nuclear weapons to annihilate North Korea’s nuclear and conventional weapon capacities and perhaps its dictator.
The message taught will be clear: Other nations can have a nuclear capacity, but, when an irrational government becomes a threat to the existence of other nations in particular and the world in general, and especially to us, they put themselves in danger of a preemptive strike.
Better the death of a hundred thousand North Koreans, than millions of others. In due time the remaining population would come to understand our necessities and motivations, just as did the Japanese and the Germans after World War II.
