NEWS RELEASE: Sturla Invites Public to Energy Fair Monday in Lancaster

State Rep. Mike Sturla is hosting an Energy Fair from 3:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 11 in Lancaster City Council Chambers, 100 S. Queen St. Residents will be able to learn about issues like electric rates, weatherization, reducing their energy bills, and how to access local and state utility programs.

Sturla said he is partnering with several local organizations to hold the event, including the Housing Development Corp., Urban League, Spanish American Civic Association, Crispus Attucks Community Center and Bright Side Opportunities Center.

“With the holidays over and the cold weather having arrived people are thinking about energy consumption and costs,” Sturla said. “This fair is an opportunity for residents to get information about many energy issues in one location at one time.”

The lawmaker said officials from the state departments of Community and Economic Development, Environmental Protection, and Public Welfare will be in attendance, as well as the Public Utility Commission, the office of the Consumer Advocate and PP&L Electric Utilities. Spanish speakers will also be on hand at the event to assist residents.

Those planning to attend are asked to sign up for the event by calling Sturla’s office at 295-3157 and are advised to bring their utility bill.

  1. This is a terrific public service. Unfortunately, we shouldn’t have to be uncertain that we can afford what I call the “creature comforts”!
