“Researchers Find Study of Medical Marijuana Discouraged” reports “Despite the Obama administration’s tacit support of more liberal state medical marijuana laws, the federal government still discourages research into the medicinal uses of smoked marijuana. That may be one reason that – even though some patients swear by it — there is no good scientific evidence that legalizing marijuana’s use provides any benefits over current therapies.

“Lyle E. Craker, a professor of plant sciences at the University of Massachusetts, has been trying to get permission from federal authorities for nearly nine years to grow a supply of the plant that he could study and provide to researchers for clinical trials…”

WATCHDOG: In his prior political activists role (which has now been ceded to younger generations), this dog struggled for twenty years trying to bring factual information concerning the War on Drugs to the public through national advertisements and www.DrugWarFacts.org .  But just as was the local case with the Convention Center project, one had to contend with forces that want to thwart research (feasibility studies and polls) and continue to mislead for their profit.   (One of the biggest funders of the War On Drugs is the pharmaceutical industry.  Small wonder!)

It is rewarding to yet see the truth about government obstructionism coming out.  A wag of the tail!
