New teen driving law a solid step

…The law increases training requirements for drivers under 18 years old and places a limit on the number of passengers they can transport.

A lot of accidents happen with teens at night and when they are distracted. Inexperience plus distraction is a recipe for tragedy on a highway. Limiting the number of passengers in the car to one non-immediate family member passenger unless accompanied by an adult reduces distraction.

And the new law adds 15 hours of supervised behind-the-wheel training for permit holders under the age of 18, with 10 of those hours required at night and five occurring under poor weather conditions…
