New Jersey’s Chris Christie faces probe over Sandy relief funds

FINANCIAL TIMES: Chris Christie, the Republican governor of New Jersey who is battling claims his office closed a traffic bridge as political payback, is now facing an ethics probe in to his use of relief funds in the wake of superstorm Sandy in 2012.

Mr Pallone claims that the company that won the contract to make the advertisements promoting New Jersey’s post-storm revival bid over $2.2m more than a rival company, which did not feature Mr Christie’s family.

“I just thought it smelled – this is in the middle of a [New Jersey gubernatorial] election campaign,” Mr Pallone told local radio. “Every dollar that’s wasted is unfortunate because it was hard enough to get the money.” … (more)

EDITOR: Gov. Christie should give consideration to cancelling his out of state obligations and concentrate on his duties as governor. Seems things aren’t going that well.
