An editorial “A most unheroic flight attendant” opines “Some 125,000 people have posted largely positive comments about [Steven] Slater” and then goes on to say “…but it’s still something like two-one-thousandths of a percent of the 6.8 billion Web users worldwide.”
WATCHDOG: An otherwise astute editorial criticizing irresponsible actions goes astray by minimizing such a response by so many people. The New Era says “That’s a lot of people unhappy with the airlines…” But we see it also as a reflection of the superficial mindset of the general population and why it is so difficult to govern constructively in a democracy. (Of course, as Winston Churchill said, a democracy is still the best of the bad choices.)
Just ask John Kerry!
