NEW ERA

Editorial “Obama conflicted on nuclear power” opines “Obama’s Department of energy asked the Nuclear Regulatory Commission to withdraw the Bush-era application seeking to approve Yucca Mountain, Nev.  As the nation’s nuclear waste repository.  Without Yucca (or a similar site), no new nuclear power plant can be licensed…..[Energy secretary, Steven ] Chu should heed the advice of Pitts and the other lawmakers and let the NRC complete its work relative to the Yucca Mountain project.”

WATCHDOG: Two wags of the tail!  In fifty-years technology will find a good use for the partially spent radioactive material.  Meanwhile, we need to move ahead with a new generation of safe nuclear energy plants, all based on the same proto-type.
