New board members contributing to LCCCA

Larry Hinnenkamp and Patrick Snyder were recently appointed to the LCCCA board by Lancaster mayor Rick Gray.  Already both of them have been asking pointed questions, particularly Mr. Hinnenkamp who has been attending meetings longer than Mr. Snyder (because of his former School Board obligations).  Larry Hinnenkamp has been questioning many details and specifics about the convention center’s finances, and has been pushing representatives from Interstate Hotels and Resorts (the joint manager of the “integrated facility”) to justify the details of their expenditures.  Along with Finance Committee chair R. B. Campbell, the three of them are carefully watching out for how our taxpayer dollars are being spent.

Thank you very much, Mr. Hinnenkamp, Mr. Snyder, and Mr. Campbell, for working so hard to protect our taxpayer dollars.

Thank you, Mayor Gray, for appointing the right kind of people to the LCCCA board.

  1. That was a great letter. Water under the bridge now, but if only Mayor Charlie Smithgal and the County Commissioners from the inception of this project had chosen the current appointees to the LCCCA, we citizens would not have been robbed of millions of dollars as well as having the debt we have.

At least we now have guards at the gate instead of the past mentality as expressed by a former member: “If the attorneys write and approved it, why do we have to read it before we sign it?” Remember the comment when Laura Douglas would not vote on vital documents she had not been given time to read in full?
