Editorial “Hillary Clinton failed (miserably) to maintain a firewall between the Clinton Foundation and her State Department” goes on to opine:
“Hillary Clinton failed (miserably) to maintain a firewall between the Clinton Foundation and her State Department…
“We don’t subscribe to the where-there’s-smoke-there’s-fire school of thinking.
“Still, there’s a rule of journalistic ethics that we think ought to apply to government officials, too: Avoid not just conflicts of interest, but the appearance of conflicts of interest. Because in the public’s eye, they’re all the same.
“That’s certainly the case with the Clinton Foundation and the State Department during Hillary Clinton’s tenure as secretary of state.”
This comes from the partner in Penn Square Partners that was largely responsible for ramming through the Convention Center that enabled it to gain a half interest in the Marriott Hotel, largely as a gift from tax payers. And who now plans to expand the hotel, partially and conceivably almost wholly at tax payer expense via the latest CRIZ legislation.
Where is LNP’s fire wall?
Clinton’s “appearance” has to do with funding a foundation that is devoted to helping needy people. LNP’s is to feeding itself form the public trough.
Also from the source that was among the earliest in the state to call for Kathleen Kane’s resignation when she was indicted by a grand jury, not yet having an opportunity to defend herself. (Hopefully more about what was behind that at a future date.)
Shame on LNP. It is bad enough to fleece the community without blatantly insulting its intelligence. And yet again, perhaps the lack of community intelligence is the problem.
You are seriously (and still) trying to defend Kathleen Kane? (Hopefully more about what is behind that will be revealed at a future date). Shame on NewsLanc. Perhaps the lack of intelligence is indeed the problem.
The community intelligence is not the problem. Had the ConCenter/Hotel been put to a public vote/referendum, it never would have seen the light of day. Lancaster county private/government Power Elite made sure a vote was never an option, and we are all (except PSP) the poorer for it.
LNP’s arrogance knows no bounds or limitations. They are the most unethical and un-journalistic “news organization’ imaginable. Their sole thrust in the Kane episode was to keep the attorney General’s office from pursuing an in-depth investigation of the shenanigans behind the ConCenter/Hotel debacle. Hopefully that investigation will still happen.
Sick of the biased headlines, reporting, etc in the LNP!!! May have to cancel subscription at some point.
I cancelled LNP a long, long time ago and never looked back!
EDITOR: Consider their electronic subscription.
I have never assumed everything I read is true –I try to read between the lines and form my own opinion–and read other sources– even our history books we read in school were a little less than true!!!!
Hasn’t been good since it was the New Era
Wish someone would start a “new” newspaper. They should be investigating all the corruption in govt. instead of worrying about trivial stuff.
When they changed format it got worse. Stopped getting it.
