LETTER: Veterans with post-traumatic stress deserve access to medical marijuana

Millions of veterans across the country are suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and other wounds of war. But doctors at the Department of Veterans Affairs are not allowed to help them seek medical marijuana, even in states where it’s legal.

Now you have a chance to help us fix this. Urge your member of Congress to support the Veterans Equal Access Act, HR667.

This new bipartisan legislation led by Representative Blumenauer (D-OR) would finally allow VA doctors to recommend medical marijuana to veterans in states where it’s legal.

At a time when even the U.S. Surgeon General is saying “marijuana can be helpful,” it’s time for VA policy to catch up.

It’s cruel and unacceptable to deny courageous veterans access to medicine that could help them cope with serious injuries and chronic conditions.

The time has come for reform. Please write to your representative now. Tell them to allow veterans safe access to medical marijuana.
