In my view a clear message of this election is that: It’s about white power stupid! This article is just more evidence of the climate in white America that fosters and is reinforced by Donald Trump’s candidacy for President.
These times disturbingly parallel the rise of the Ku Klux Klan and Jim Crow in response to Reconstruction after the Civil War. In a similar vein were the assaults on the gains of the Civil Rights Movement that began with Nixon’s election that reached their zenith during Reagan’s reign followed by mop ups during the administrations of the Bushes. Black gains were reversed as reverse discrimination and the flag of “states rights” was again replanted to foil black progress.
And now we have the obvious backlash to the election of Barack Obama and the prospect of a post-racial society. Like Hell! Or perhaps more appropriately, Like Heil as in Heil Hitler!
Additionally, it is troubling that Trump has many black apologists/supporters, the most visible of course being the savant, Ben Carson. It is also worrisome that many so-called principled white progressives are so intent on discrediting Hillary Clinton that she may be too weakened to defeat Donald Trump. But then they are not the targets of the latest chapter in white supremacy…
