“Reconquered”, they re occupying unoccupied land around the city. They haven’t taken it yet.
Saudi Arabia is already warning that this signals Iran taking over parts of Iraq, presumably the Shia dominated areas. And guess what? They are.
One has to wonder how much longer the U.S. will be able to hold their “green zone.”
I seriously doubt that Iran is going to shed their blood and wealth just to maintain its safety. More likely they will let the IS chip away at it and then just occupy when it is all said and done.
