Lawyer: Kane innocent, won’t step down

PHILLY.COM: …Lanny Davis, Kane’s private publicist and lawyer, said the embattled prosecutor is innocent and the victim of “cowardly,” anonymous people who are out to destroy her career.

“She hasn’t even been indicted, much less convicted, and yet people are asking for her resignation based on purely anonymous accusations,” Davis said. “The presumption of innocence is fundamental in our system of justice.”…

EDITOR: In other words, we should not simply elect our leaders but we should jettison them when under political attack by their adversaries and the skeletal Inquirer that tries to recapture past journalistic glory by current dubious accusations.

Kane had only been an assistant district attorney before becoming attorney general. Of course she was prone to make mistakes during her first year in office. But as the first Democrat to hold the elected office and given the history of prejudicial prosecutions or failures and delays in doing so (Jerry Sandusky case as an example), she has been swimming in a sea of sharks.

  1. I believe the standards applied to Kane if also applied to her predecessors mean that Corbett should be in prison. Corbett was the worst state AG ever, in my opinion. Used the office for political persecution AND he and his assistants would know first hand about leaking grand jury information illegally, they did it so much you wouldn’t think there were any rules on that.
