LANCASTER NEW ERA

Editorial “Fewer Pa. lawmakers, fewer staffer” opines:

“The Keystone State also is second in per capita spending (after Alaska), and employs about one of every 11 state legislative employees in the nation, with barely 4 percent of the nation’s population.

“Reducing the number of lawmakers, however, addresses only half of the equation. The General Assembly’s roughly 3,000-member legislative staff is the other half.

“Reducing the number of legislative staff members in Harrisburg deserves a serious look.” (more)

WATCHDOG: Two wags of the tail. Incidentally, the generally high quality of New Era editorials (though we often disagree) has not recently been interrupted with an occasional ignorant screed, obviously coming from a different source at LNP. Long may it last.
