LANCASTER NEW ERA

Editorial “Corbett anti-tax view consistent”,  in reference to calls for taxes on extraction of Marcellus Shale gas, opines “It makes sense to ask gas drillers to pay for roads their trucks wear down or to clean up streams that their operations make dirty.  It makes no sense to take driller’s money for anything the state government chooses to spend it on.”

WATCHDOG:  According to this theory, none of us should pay school taxes if we have no children or income taxes except to cover the costs that we create to the government.  The top 1/10th or 1% of households who earn an average of $28 million a year will certainly endorse this approach.  Well perhaps not, since many of them don’t pay any taxes at all.
