“By law, the attorney general’s office is required to “uphold and defend the constitutionality of all statutes.”</e
WATCHDOG: Exactly. But if the attorney general believes a law to be unconstitutional, isn’t he or she defending the Constitution by expressing her department’s legal opinion? Or is the AG to be a blind advocate of whatever the legislature passes?
It’s a tough call.
