“The legislation looked good on paper: Require welfare recipients to submit to drug tests. Those who test positive for illegal substances won’t be eligible to receive benefits for one year or until they successfully complete a substance abuse treatment program. Those who test drug-free are reimbursed by the state for the cost of the test (about $30)…
“Columnist and best-selling author Carl Hiaasen suggested it was the people who came up with the law who should be screened for illicit drugs, and he offered to pay for drug testing for all 160 members of the Florida legislature..” …. (more)

WATCHDOG: A wag of the tail!
Let’s extend the drug testing to corporate welfare recipients as well. Let the directors and CEO’s of GM, Chrysler, etc submit to drug testing to receive gov’t bail-outs.
