Pennsylvania’s Newborn Protection Act — also known as the Safe Haven Law — allows women or girls who are not ready to be mothers to leave their infants at any hospital in the state…

Pennsylvania is one of 49 states with a Safe Haven Law. It offers mothers a safe and legal way to relinquish their babies if they are alive when born. Newborns up to 28 days old can be dropped off at any hospital in Pennsylvania. Many hospitals, including all of Lancaster County’s hospitals, have bassinets in entryways if personnel are unavailable.

So long as the infant is unharmed, no criminal charges can be brought. Mothers also can provide medical information about the babies but are not required to do so… (more)
