Kevin, please get those d–n Occupy marchers out of our way!

With his taxi cab delayed in San Francisco traffic due to about forty marching Occupy movement members protesting  over Post Office policies, the Watchdog  hurriedly called long time friend, drug policy reform partner and now DC Occupy movement ‘leader’  Kevin Zeese to ask him to get the protestors out of the way!

Below is a message from Zeese, although the Watchdog has his misgivings since it seems inevitable  that the Post Office must shrink and likely cease to exist over future decades due to the Internet ‘revolution’ …one that neither Zeese or the Watchdog can take any credit for.

“I’m glad I could get the post office protesters out of your way so quickly.

As I said there are postal workers on a hunger strike to bring out what is really happening with the Post Office — essentially the government is starving them so they can privatize postal service.

The Congress passed a law a few years ago that made the absolutely amazing requirement – unprecedented for any business or government agency — that the Post Office put aside enough money to pay pensions for 75 years from now. So, money coming into the Post Office is being used to pay the pension of postal workers who are not even born yet.

It is absolutely insane — of course, it is not insane if the purpose is to starve the Post Office so it is forced to reduce postal buildings, reduce workers, reduce hours and reduce service. Then they will say — look how lousy the Post Office is that they are closed three days a week, their hours are only four hours a day, you have to drive 20 minutes to find a Post Office — all to say, private industry (Fed Ex and UPS) can do the job better — we need to privatize postal service!
