Kane seeks $12M boost for AG’s office

POTTSTOWN MERCURY / AP: Pennsylvania Attorney General Kathleen Kane is getting a warm reception from the state Senate Appropriations Committee even though her agency wants more money.

The Democrat asked the panel Tuesday to approve a 14 percent spending boost to cover negotiated salaries and benefits for more than 700 staffers and to hire 16 additional drug agents.

Republican Gov. Tom Corbett proposes flat-funding the office at $87 million, but Kane says that wouldn’t keep up with costs and her aides said it would eliminate 108 positions… (more)
