LEGAL INTELLIGENCER: Pennsylvania Attorney General Kathleen Kane has argued that the criminal charges against her should be quashed because criminal prosecutions for grand jury leaks are rare, and only occurred in her case because of two former state prosecutors’ efforts to retaliate against her.
Defense attorneys for Kane filed a motion Wednesday alleging that Kane is the victim of a selective and vindictive prosecution, and that the charges against her should be quashed. The motion said grand jury leaks are common, but criminal prosecution for those leaks “are virtually unheard of.”
The motion named several other grand jury investigations from which information was leaked. No one was prosecuted for those leaks, the motion said, and no grand jury investigated those leaks… (more)
