Justin Trudeau elected as Canada’s next prime minister

WASHINGTON POST: Canadians voted for a sharp change in their government Monday, resoundingly ending Conservative Stephen Harper’s attempt to shift the nation to the right and returning a legendary name for liberals, Trudeau, to the prime minister’s office.

Trudeau, who has reenergized the Liberal Party since its devastating electoral losses four years ago, promises to raise taxes on the rich and run deficits for three years to boost government spending.   1. Donald Trump could win the Republican primary, in part because of the way the Republican system is set up, but he could not win a general election — but we can always visit Canada. I am amazed Trump has not imploded yet.

    Yes, it is very exciting to see Harper leaving — on many issues, for many reasons.

  2. We can expect JT to be a more eloquent, charismatic, compassionate statesman, but uncertainty as to socio-economic impacts of new direction. Clearly public has had enough Harperism, voter turnout way up,

    JT being the best alternative choice among the options. Overall a good mix across the country so that’s a plus.

    Now if we could only get rid of the Senate, stacked with Harper appointees and a total waste of tax$$.
