Judge: Appellate Court Should Release Fina’s Emails

THE LEGAL INTELLIGENCER:   A Philadelphia judge is urging the Commonwealth Court to affirm her decision to have Internet browsing records of assistant district attorney Frank Fina of the Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office made public under a Right-to-Know request.

Fina was a lead prosecutor in the high-profile cases against serial child molester Jerry Sandusky and three former Penn State administrators while he was at the Pennsylvania Attorney General’s Office, but more recently Fina became a central figure in an email scandal that eventually led two Supreme Court justices to step down.

Ryan Bagwell, a Penn State alumnus, is requesting the documents, which include all network traffic from Fina’s workstation between July 1, 2013, and Sept. 31, 2013, record retention policies within the District Attorney’s Office and the city of Philadelphia, and any emails or memos regarding Fina’s correspondence with former Judge Barry Feudale, who oversaw the Sandusky and Penn State grand jury investigations… (more)
