Internet revenue for publisher of USA Today now 22%

According to a tidbit buried at the bottom of a column at USA Today, revenue for Gannett, “an international media and marketing solutions company” , fell 2% last year but digital revenue rose 10%.

USA Today does not charge (yet) for visits to its web site but other periodicals do including the Wall Street Journal and the Financial Times and, for  non- print customers of frequent use, the New York Times and more recently Lancaster Online, or so was indicated by a onetime message that flashed on our screen.

Democracy requires a number of reporting sources.  There ain’t no free lunch
