A report, “Neighbors question dump report, Site behind post office to be rail yard” starts:
“More than a year after a company hired by Franklin & Marshall College began the cleanup of a former municipal dump, neighbors on Tuesday night got to have their say about it.
“Their comments, however, came after the fact.”
WATCHDOG: Yes, they finally got their say about the clean up of the dump at a cost of tens of millions to tax payers, but, thanks to John Fry of F&M, they never had a study about whether there was an alternate and better railyard location at a fraction of the cost. The meeting was such a farce because, through no fault of the presenters, the subject was so periferal to more important issues, that this old dog could only write about it as a commentary rather than straight news.
F&M repeatedly explained why the alternate sites were not even remotely feasible. It’s a smear to put this on Mr. Fry himself.
Editor’s note: John Fry refused to obtain an independent study concerning the best available site.
Absolutely correct. F & M and LGH were repeatedly asked to fund an alternative site study to verify the alternate sites were or weren’t feasible. Mr. Fry stated that he called Donnelly personally and they “aren’t interested in selling.” That’s how they explained away that alternate site.
