An article in the center of the July 17 front page with a three column photo is headed “School plan computes; SDL to sell used machines to needy families.” It starts “Whenever Synquess Sanitana had to write a report for school, the ‘computer scramble’ would begin.”
WATCHDOG: The reader then has to read eight paragraphs about the goings on of the Sanitana family as well as turn to page 10 before finally learning: “About 250 four-year-old Dell desktop PCs will be offered to parents who do not have a working computer at home.”
Oh for the day when you got the salient facts in the first couple of paragraphs! (You still can at NewsLanc.)
