An article headed “Lancaster General Health plan spurs regional question” relates
Lancaster General Health’s plan for a new medical center in West Earl Township has given a supervisor in a neighboring township second thoughts about “regionalization.”
Earl Township “would be seriously impacted” by the project, but won’t have a say on whether it gets built, Earl Supervisor Fred Wissler said at his board’s Oct. 5 meeting.
“It’s near us, but we don’t have any input. Because of this, I’m starting to be against regionalization,” Wissler said.
Because Earl has joined with other municipalities in the Elanco region — including East Earl, Brecknock and Caernarvon townships, as well as the boroughs of New Holland and Terre Hill — Earl has no influence on projects that go on in West Earl, even though the two townships share a border.
WATCHDOG: It would seem the problem isn’t “regionalization” but rather the lack thereof between East and West Earl.
