INTELLIGENCER JOURNAL

A May 8th editorial on the May 6th Convention Center Authority meeting complains: “Overseeing the construction of the $174 million Lancaster County Convention Center project is a difficult job. It’s made even harder when developers miss their own targets for opening, then dodge questions about when the facility will open.”

WATCHDOG: NewsLanc‘s reporter, knowledgeable in construction and hotel management, did not observe Tom Smithgall or Mark Mossic “dodge questions.” Rather, he found them to be quite forthcoming and explicit in their explanations.

The Intell report was actually pretty good if read throughout although not nearly as comprehensive; it just got off in the wrong direction.

Compare the headlines: The Intell said “Still no date for Convention Center Opening”; NewsLanc reported “Builder and manager indicate mid-June or earlier CC opening.”
