INTELLIGENCER JOURNAL

Editorial “A helping hand” observes:   “Don’t dismiss last week’s announcement that homeless figures in Lancaster County have dropped by more than one-fourth – from 666 to 481 – as merely an uptick in the economy.

“It’s a product of a coordinated effort between an alphabet soup of government agencies and faith based and nonprofit organizations that are using a new approach to deal with homelessness….

“…caseworkers began to realize that the key to fixing family problems begins with having a stable place to live…”

WATCHDOG:    Keeping families together, be it in their own homes or in housing provided for them, rather than separating spouses and often children from parents is a much better way to preserve and return families to a self sustaining, normal way of life.

Three wags of the tail to all of the government agencies, faith based institutions, philanthropists and volunteers who are making this possible.  And credit to the Intell for acknowinging their accomplishments.
