    The Detroit situation (and perhaps Harrisburg) is a fundamental weaknesses in our republic. Most Detroit leaders bear their share of the responsibility.

    The political ability to kick the can down the road and leave the fiscal mess to be cleaned up by someone else, including future generations who never even got to vote, is a classic Ponzi scheme.

    The question now is who will be left holding the bag?
