Hold legislator’s fee to the fire

From the WILKES-BARRE TIMES LEADER:

THOSE INCOMING state lawmakers taking oaths of office in Harrisburg today should fully recognize that residents expect them to put a priority on spending less and doing business differently – for starters, by not putting their re-election efforts ahead of other endeavors or above the law.

Yes, they should understand this, having surfed into office on a frothy wave of voter discontent in November. But will they remember?…

Urge them to, among other things, act on sensible cost-reduction strategies across all aspects of government. Solve the state’s transportation funding riddle and (finally) fix those bridges. Re-examine the state’s unfunded mandates that, for example, sometimes jeopardize the Luzerne County Court’s timely handling of cases. Develop a comprehensive policy on natural gas development and strengthen environmental safeguards…
