His Honor looks fit as a fiddle!

As the Watchdog pulled over to park on Prince Street, the jaunty figure of Mayor Rick Gray appeared from his doorway.   Dressed in a black and white seersucker suit and orange bow tie, and with a brown wood cane, he appeared every inch a  fashionably dressed gentleman from a 1980’s Brooks Bros brochure.  (He allowed from the 1930s!)

To look at him, one wouldn’t realize he had been through a life threatening motorcycle accident just weeks before as a result of a careless driver running a stop sign. From his descriptions of the screws and plates that were used to repair his body, it is certain that he won’t be walking through any metal detection devices without setting off alarms.

The  mayor said he had 96,000 miles on his beloved BMW cycle and he was looking forward to passing the 100,000 milestone.

Gray pointed out that his helmet saved him  and it was his leather jacket and heavy gloves that prevented  further injury.  Would that other bikers would protect themselves as he has!   (The Watchdog always did.)

Whatever may be the ups and downs of our  political and ideological views, it is circumstances like this that reminds of the ties that bind us together.
