Harrisburg receiver wants court to force City Council to raise taxes

HARRISBURG PATRIOT-NEWS:  …The increase would double the tax, from 1 percent to 2 percent, for residents of the city. Council members have refused the tax increase, saying they do not believe it to be in the best interests of the city’s residents.

Lynch’s spokesman, Cory Angell, said the increase is “critical to solving the city’s structural deficit and providing the city with sufficient income to provide essential services.”

Commonwealth Court must hold a hearing on the request, before deciding whether or not to force the council to act…  (more)
