Frightened and sanctimonious bureaucrats

Let us review one by one the sanctions that the NCAA  imposed on Penn State without even conducting its own investigation:

Probation for five years  –  Fair Enough

$60 million sanction –  How does depriving students of the benefits of those funds make any sense?

Four-year bowl ban – Is punishment for the wrong doings of administrators and state and local officials to be inflicted on innocent football players?

Vacates all wins from 1998 – 2011  –  How silly can they  get.  They need Superman or a time machine to go back and change history.

The NCAA is charged with making certain that schools compete on a level playing field.   The Sandusky scandal has nothing to do with fair competition.  The NCAA took unprecedented action, and  without any due process.

The editor’s take:  A bunch of frightened and sanctimonious bureaucrats carried away by orchestrated hysteria and  the media spotlight.
