Former PA Turnpike official says Commission rife with corruption

PENNLIVE.COM:  Robert M. Wallett doesn’t paint a pretty picture of the workings of the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission.  The agency is rife with political patronage, he contends.

Hirings and promotions are made and lucrative construction contracts often are awarded on the basis of connections, not merit, the Derry Twp. man claims in a federal lawsuit.

Wallett insists that he was fired as the commission’s facilities director last year because he wouldn’t play those games. His refusal to look the other way had brought him a demotion from a job as turnpike maintenance director, he contends.  (more)
