POLITICO: The total haul for incumbents seeking reelection so far this year is $30 million more than at the same point in 2012 and on par with the amount they had raised in 2010. But races in those previous years were in states like California and New York with hyper-expensive media markets, or traditional partisan battlegrounds including Ohio and Pennsylvania.
This year, those states don’t have Senate races, so not only is 2014 likely to be expensive, but the money raised can go further than in previous years.
Minority Leader Mitch McConnell is leading the fundraising pack. His campaign has already brought in more than $15 million this cycle. Republican Sens. Lindsey Graham of South Carolina and John Cornyn of Texas have both raised more than $8 million, and red-state Democrats including Hagan, Mark Pryor of Arkansas and Mary Landrieu of Louisiana have each raised from $4 million to $7 million… (more)
