Facebook shakes up privacy policies

FINANCIAL TIMES: Facebook has shaken up its privacy policies and addressed campaigners’ concerns in an effort to let its 1.3bn users have more control of their personal information on the world’s largest social network.

The changes come as technology companies face a new privacy battle in the EU and users have grown more wary about the impact of sharing their personal lives online.

The Silicon Valley-based company said on Thursday that it would allow new users to automatically share only with their friends while existing Facebook users would be offered a “privacy check-up” to let them change the often-complex settings more easily… (more)
