[Retiring Rep. Steve] LaTourette said House Republicans took a baby step this week by installing Washington Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers as conference chairwoman, the fourth-ranking position in the House. Moves like that help dispel the GOP identity as a “group of 50-something white guys from below the Mason-Dixon line,” noted the Ohioan, who has said he’s leaving Congress because he’s tired of the partisan warfare…

“If there’s really a deal that’s a deal, and not just some talking point from the White House, John Boehner will make the deal,” said LaTourette. “But it may not be the majority of the Republican conference.
