After winning the national collegiate football championship game with Oregon, the Auburn coach exclaimed on national TV:  “God was with us.”

WATCHDOG: Over a lunchtime discussion of the game, the Watchdog asked his companions whether the coach was implying that God was not with Oregon.  For some, such a statement could be interpreted as blasphemy.

A good Catholic lady among them ended the theological exploration by chirping up:   “We all know that God roots for Notre Dame! ”

  1. Good for her on the amusing quip. But on a cheeky note, if what she said is true than Notre Dame’s football program would be MUCH better than it is and heading back to its glory days.
