Egyptian army loyalties torn

The real test, however, is yet to come, as Egypt enters a volatile, possibly violent transition.

Opposition figures and protesters, who have been demanding Mr Mubarak’s immediate ouster, were quick to dismiss his Tuesday concession, and to call for more demonstrations.
