EDITORIAL: What makes President Obama a great patriot

The trip to Indonesia and other Muslim countries is an example of President Barack Obama’s willingness to place what is good for the nation and the world above what is popular, even when he pays the price of the mid-term election defeat.

Whether it was health care reform, financial reform, the Recovery Act, standing up to the foreign policy hawks and insubordinate military,  or offering the hand of friendship to Islam, Obama does not waiver.   He is the rare president willing to accept a single term of accomplishments rather than eight years of mediocrity.

Today General Motors reported a $2 billion third quarterly profit.  Once again Obama’s courage in doing what he thought best for the country in the face of withering fire has proven sound.   Tax payers are likely to earn a considerable profit over the next year or two as the government sales its shares in the company.

In the finest sense of the term, Obama is a “Philosopher King”, a teacher and leader of the people.

We predict that history will be much kinder to him than his predecessor and, if he continues in his selfless course, Obama will be rated as one of the nation’s top five presidents.
