There is no point any longer brooding over the latest mass shooting.
As we saw in Colorado last week when two state senators were recalled for wanting to ban ammunition magazines with more than 15 rounds and to require background checks, the public is determined to allow every person to own whatever weapon they choose that is currently legal.
We presume the rationale is that if everyone carries a gun that there will be no more mass murders. The Lone Ranger rides again.
The county will have to await future generations to bring about change.
In this case, we hope we are wrong.
Completely true. Mass shootings aren’t news.
Perhaps the best we can hope for is private gated communities that don’t allow firearms, but there probably aren’t enough rational people around to populate them.
