DeMint: ‘Rough and Tumble’ of GOP Contest Good Prep for Obama Fight

NEWSMAX: Republicans may be bristling over the level of nastiness in this year’s GOP presidential contest, but South Carolina Sen. Jim DeMint tells Newsmax.TV he considers it valuable practice for the billion-dollar campaign that President Barack Obama will unleash against the nominee.

“There’s going to continue to be contrasts and negative ads I’m sure, and while it’s painful when you’re the candidate, they’ve all become better candidates because of the rough and tumble of the campaign,” DeMint acknowledged in an exclusive interview on Wednesday. …

He applauded Gingrich’s plan to counter negative campaign ads with ideas. “That’s what I want to hear and I think Americans want to hear the vision that Republicans have for our country and how that contrasts with where Obama has been taking us for the last three years.” …  (more)
