Delaware River drilling future embroils states

SCRANTON TIMES-TRIBUNE: A call by Gov. Tom Corbett to end a natural gas drilling moratorium in the Delaware River basin is the latest chapter in a long-standing debate over water use in the region.

The governor publicly voiced his disappointment after months of frustrating efforts to win over neighboring states on the merits of Pennsylvania’s new drilling standards and environmental protections, his top energy adviser said.

Mr. Corbett urged the Delaware River Basin Commission to adopt final rules regulating gas drilling, and thereby end a three-year moratorium, in a June 27 letter… (more)
