According to the Office of the County Treasurer, collections of Room Rental and Room Excise taxes for the first five months of 2010 are up by about $103,000 from the comparable period in 2009, an increase of 6%.
Last year the taxes came to $1,722,861.46. This year, they amounted to $1,825,955.85.
The taxes are the prime source of revenue for paying debt service on the convention center and for promoting countywide tourism.
