HARRISBURG PATRIOT-NEWS: Gov. Tom Corbett has been playing Santa Claus for the past six months going around the state doling out more than $137 million in taxpayer-funded economic development grants for a parking garage, a skyscraper, hotels and numerous other projects.
And he has a few more grants left in his bag of goodies yet to give away in what is expected to be his most expensive round of these cash giveaways since taking office in 2011.
Some of the awards in this latest round of Economic Growth Initiative grants that were distributed to projects in 23 counties so far went to businesses, such as Weis Markets, Glatfelter and Urban Outfitters, while others were awarded to cultural, health and community organizations… (more)
