SCRANTON TIMES-LEADER / AP: The main Pennsylvania state budget bill now has Gov. Tom Corbett’s signature, as he acknowledged that his wider agenda of overhauling public employee pension systems, privatizing wine and liquor sales and increasing transportation funding has stalled until the fall.
Corbett signed the $28.4 billion Republican-penned spending plan, hours after both the House and Senate voted Sunday to send it to him. It spends more on public schools, pensions and prisons, while cutting business taxes.
However, the Republican-controlled Legislature adjourned for the night and lawmakers departing the Capitol said they had little to no expectation of reaching a consensus on pensions, wine and liquor or transportation legislation before the fall… (more)
