Commissioners to Hold Two Public Comment Meetings regarding the Lancaster County Human Relations Commission

PRESS RELEASE

LANCASTER COUNTY (September 7, 2010) – Lancaster County Commissioner Scott Martin, Chairman of the Board of Commissioners, announced today that the Lancaster County Board of Commissioners will hold two evening meetings for the public to offer comments regarding the Lancaster County Human Relations Commission.

“We’ve had two evening meetings where the public has come to talk about issues related to the Human Relations Commission,” reported Commissioner Martin.  “Geographically, both meeting locations were near Lancaster City and both were attended by many of the same individuals. We felt it was important to take the public comment portion of the meeting into other areas of the County to provide residents, who have not yet had a chance to give comment, the opportunity to do so.”

The first meeting will be held on Monday, September 20, 2010 at the MANHEIM CENTRAL MIDDLE SCHOOL AUDITORIUM, 261 White Oak Road, Manheim, PA 17545.  Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. and the meeting will begin at 7:00 p.m.

The second meeting will be held on October 4, 2010 at the SOLANCO HIGH SCHOOL AUDITORIUM, 585 Solanco Road, Quarryville, PA 17566.  Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. and the meeting will begin at 7:00 p.m.

Both meetings will be solely dedicated to hearing public comment regarding the proposed elimination of the Lancaster County Human Relations Commission.  Testimony will not be given at either meeting.

“Our last evening meeting was heavily attended, and many individuals reported not being able to get into the meeting,” stated Commissioner Martin.  “It is important that everyone’s voices are heard, therefore we’ve selected locations with greater occupancy levels”.  The Manheim Central Middle School Auditorium holds 800 individuals and the Solanco High School Auditorium holds 1,000 individuals.
